The Doors: il tributo psichedelico

Di album tributo ai seminali The Doors ce ne sono stati tantissimi, più o meno riusciti, più o meno interessanti, più o meno “utili” (piace ricordare con nostalgia quello del 2000 ‘Stoned Immaculate: The Music Of The Doors’ con Perry Farrell, STP, Bo Diddley, Ian Astbury…). Si aggiunge alla lunga lista anche questo nuovo ‘A Psych Tribute to the Doors’ edito il 4 marzo dalla sempre viva Cleopatra Records. “The original riders on the psychedelic storm get their own minds blown by the leaders of the new psych rock movement. Several leaders of psych rock’s next wave of sonic visionaries”. I Dead Meadow dichiarano: “From the very beginning of our band to recording in the hallowed halls of Sunset Sound, where the Doors recorded all of their classic albums, we would listen to the mystical sounds of the Doors for magic”. Gli Elephant Stone aggiungono: “When asked to be involved with this tribute I knew I did not want to just play a Doors tune; I wanted to reinvent it…So, we reconstructed ‘L.A. Woman’ as a drone-y psyche tune that maintained the West Coast vibe but with an added dash of Madchester, a sprinkling of ‘Live at Pompeii’ and swirl of backwards sitar. Mojo rising indeed”.
