The xx: in Italia

We are working on some new songs right now, we have a couple of demos and some sounds. After finishing this tour, we will be doing some separate things, I’ll produce and DJ, but we will get back together after New Year’s and start recording our third album”. Il bassista Oliver Sim qualche tempo prima aveva invece anticipato la presenza di Romy Madley Croft: “Romy’s voice has grown a lot just from singing everyday. I hear it and it’s beautiful to hear”.

Proprio McDonald racconta: “There are songs which have come out of our experiences in New York and Texas that would never have come out in London; the colours and the ideas and the moods on some of these songs are just not things you would write in London. It’s about opening things up a bit more. They are a London band, but they’re also a band that’s spent a lot of time in different countries. So we’re trying to push that further with the Iceland trip, which is happening in July”.

Jamie xx durante un’intervista a The Fader racconta: “We’ve got quite a lot of songs that are not finished, but I’m excited about it… it feels a lot more free than when we were making the last record. I think the most inspiring thing, really, is just not being anywhere crazy and just being at home”.

Fine 2014.

Hello, It’s been a while, we hope everything is wonderful with you. This year has been a creative one for us so far, we have been hard at work writing and recording new music in a few different places around the world. In the spring we spent a few weeks in the incredible and unique town of Marfa in Texas. Then, in Summer we spent some time just outside of Reykavik in Iceland. This Autumn we have been back in London, writing and having some time at home but this week we are heading out to Los Angeles to continue the writing and recording process. Although all very different, each of these places have been inspirational environments to create music in, and each will have an influence on the new album. The whole process is a big adventure and we can’t wait for a time when we’ll be able to share the music with you. Lots of love until then. xx The xx

maggio 2015. Jamie xx esce con l’album solista ‘In Colour’ e aggiorna lo stato avanzamento lavori: “the record will have a completely different concept to their previous records”.

ottobre 2016. Hello! It’s been a while but you’ve been on our minds! We are in the studio working on our third album, it feels so good to be together making new music. Meanwhile, we wanted to share a playlist of songs we’ve been listening to in the studio. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! Lots of love. xx The xx

Il nuovo album si chiama ‘I See You’ anticipato dal singolo ‘Hold On‘. Fuori il 13 gennaio via Young Turks.

I See You marks a new era for the London trio of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, both sonically and in terms of process. For while xx and Coexist were both made in relative isolation in London, I See You was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York, Marfa TX, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London, and is characterised by a more outward-looking, open and expansive approach. Produced by Jamie Smith and Rodaidh McDonald, I See You is The xx at their boldest yet, performing with more clarity and ambition than ever before.
