The The: il ritorno

514

Il 55enne musicista londinese dichiarava infatti: “The important thing is getting yourself in the frame of mind for it. Everything else follows from that. Having been away for so long, I have almost forgotten who I used to be. I almost forgot I was a songwriter in the first place, which is a horrible thing to say. But if it all goes to plan, the album will have freshness to it. It’ll be a new start for my career”.

We Can’t Stop What’s Coming’ (edizione limitata in 2mila copie solo UK).

A distanza di cinque mesi ecco arrivare il box set ‘Radio Cineola: The Trilogy’ (“centered around Johnson’s Radio Cineola web broadcast he has hosted over the last few years”) che sarà fuori il 20 ottobre e che ospita artisti come G Thirwell, Thomas Leer, Johnny Marr, James Eller, Meja, Anna Domino, Zeke Manyika, Colin Lloyd Tucker, John Tottenham, Thomas Feiner, Liz Horsman, Tom Bright, Gillian Glover, Willis, Johanna St Michaels, Jacob Sahlqvist, Kate Wilkins, Gerald Jenkins, William Engdahl, Neil Clark, David Edwards / Media Lens, Marian St Laurent, Lucinda Rogers, Neil Sanders, Abdi Assadi, Zoe Hepden, Eric Schermerhorn, Polly Maberly, Niall Greig Fulton.

June 1: Heartland Festival, Egeskov Castle, Denmark
June 5: Royal Albert Hall, London, UK

includes a disc of other artists covering The The songs as well as the new single; another disc of Matt Johnson reading John Tottenham’s epic poetic cycle “The Inertia Variations”; and the third collects interviews and soundscapes taken from Johnson’s 12-hour UK Election Day Radio Cineola shortwave broadcast from 2015.
