Iggy Pop & Josh Homme: l’album

In mezzo alla giornata di oggi, 21 gennaio, sul profilo social dei QOTSA era comparsa una foto – con riconoscibili i profili di Josh Homme e Iggy Pop – accompagnata da una “didascalia”: “Today the sun will rise again, to bring a brand new dawn, A new world is coming, The old world is gone. So tightly kept in secret. No longer now disguised. Rising like the morning sun. White light between the eyes”. Ora il New York Times svela l’arcano: una collaborazione per un disco segreto che uscirà il 18 marzo (“The new songs are from ‘Post Pop Depression’ (Loma Vista), an album Mr. Pop and Mr. Homme wrote and recorded together with utmost secrecy and full independence, which is scheduled to be released in March”). Il debutto è arrivato al The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Nove brani registrati nei due studi di Homme (“two weeks at his home setup in the desert, in Joshua Tree, and later for one week at Pink Duck”) assieme agli amici di sempre Dean Fertita e Matt Helders degli Arctic Monkeys alla batteria. Nel disco anche Troy Van Leeuwen e Matt Sweeney (Chavez).

“There won’t be hardly any shows, and they won’t be in big places, and you won’t be able to get a ticket. So almost everyone won’t see it. It will be like trying to catch smoke in your hands. And that makes it even better. It will be special, and it will be over in the blink of an eye.” (Homme)

22 gennaio Ecco il primo singolo ‘Gardenia‘. Ed ecco la performance allo show di Stephen Colbert. Bissata anche con ‘Break Into Your Heart‘.
